Will it ever be enough?

on

I tried, and I tried again. But so far, I have failed to ever make enough strawberry jam to satisfy my daughters' appetites and see us through the year.

I've made 42 jars this year. And I'm actually considering going back for more berries, except that if I made even one more batch, I'd have 50 jars of jam in my cupboard. And if that's not a year's supply...then maybe that's getting a little ridiculous.

Maybe I need to base my kids' diet on something other than 100 percent strawberry jam.

Will 09/10 be The Year of Enough Jam?

I'll let you know in a few months.

Have you posted your recipe for jam? I'd like to try making some myself. :)

Here is my recipe for jam:

Get some strawberries.

Go to the store and buy a box of Sure-Jell pectin (the yellow box, not the pink box).

Open it up and find the piece of paper inside.

Unfold the piece of paper and do exactly what it says on the recipe for "cooked strawberry jam."

I do cooked jam because I don't have enough freezer space to do that many jars of freezer jam, but freezer jam is good too, and even easier than the cooked kind.

That's it. No special secret recipe!

42? Wow! I think I only did 21 last year and I still have a couple left...

Last year was my first year for freezer jam and I'll never go back to cooked -- thank goodness I have the extra freezer in the garage!
